MS Sheet Supplier Mumbai | Mild Steel Sheets IS 2062 – 8x4 Ft Standard Size – Aero Enterprises, Vasai East

Technical Profile
Aero Enterprises stocks mild steel (MS) sheets at Unit II Dhumal Nagar, Vasai East in IS 2062 E250A and E350 grades from JSW and TATA certified mills. MS sheet – also called mild steel sheet, MS plate, or MS chequered plate for the floor-application variant – is the most widely procured structural material in Indian manufacturing, fabrication, and engineering. Thicknesses from 1.6mm to 12mm are available in standard 8x4 ft (2440mm x 1220mm) size, subject to stock. MS sheets above 6mm are also referred to as MS plates in the Mumbai steel market and are used for heavy-duty structural, machine base, and industrial equipment applications. All consignments dispatched from Aero Enterprises Unit II are weighed on our certified 50-tonne digital weighbridge with full weight documentation and Mill Test Certificates available on request.

What Is an MS Sheet
MS sheet stands for mild steel sheet – a flat-rolled steel product manufactured from low-carbon steel (typically 0.15–0.30% carbon content) to IS 2062 standard in India. The term 'mild steel' refers to the low carbon content that makes the material highly formable, weldable, and machinable compared to higher-carbon steels. MS sheets are produced by hot rolling steel slabs into flat sheets at temperatures above 900°C, which gives the material its characteristic blue-grey mill scale surface. This is why MS sheet and HR (hot rolled) sheet are often used interchangeably in the Mumbai steel market – when a buyer says 'MS sheet', they typically mean hot-rolled IS 2062 sheet. MS sheets thicker than 5–6mm are commonly referred to as MS plates in the trade. The two most common grades in the Mumbai market are IS 2062 E250A (yield strength 250 MPa, standard grade) and IS 2062 E350 (yield strength 350 MPa, high-strength grade for structural and heavy fabrication). Both grades are available at Aero Enterprises Unit II Vasai East in 8x4 ft standard size with JSW and TATA mill certification.

Industrial Applications
MS Sheet Grades – IS 2062 Explained
Certified Grade Variations in Stock
IS 2062 E250A – Standard MS Sheet
Most common grade in the Mumbai MS sheet market. Yield strength 250 MPa minimum. Used for general fabrication, enclosures, machine frames, agricultural equipment, and structural components where standard structural performance is required. Available 1.6mm to 12mm. This is what most buyers mean when they say 'MS sheet' without specifying a grade.
IS 2062 E250BR – As-Rolled MS Sheet
As-rolled variant of E250 without the additional impact testing required for E250B and E250C. Used in general structural applications, civil construction, and fabrication where Charpy impact certification at low temperatures is not required. Same yield strength as E250A; specification difference relates to testing and documentation.
IS 2062 E350 – High-Strength MS Sheet
Higher yield strength at 350 MPa minimum. Used for heavy machinery frames, structural steel in buildings and bridges, pressure vessel base components, and applications where the E250 grade requires a thicker section to carry the load. E350 allows the designer to use a thinner section for the same load capacity, saving weight and material cost in heavy fabrication.
MS Chequered Plate IS 3502
Hot-rolled MS sheet with a raised diamond or lentil pattern on one face. Used for industrial floor plates, stair treads, vehicle load floors, and platform surfaces where anti-slip properties are required. Available in 3mm to 8mm thickness. Pattern height and form per IS 3502.
MS Sheet vs HR Sheet vs MS Plate – Understanding the Terms
In the Mumbai steel market, MS sheet, HR sheet, and mild steel sheet are often used to describe the same product: a hot-rolled IS 2062 flat-rolled steel in thicknesses from 1.6mm to 6mm. The distinction typically used by stockists and buyers is thickness-based: material up to 5–6mm is called MS sheet or HR sheet; material from 6mm and above is referred to as MS plate or HR plate. This is a trade convention, not a standards definition – IS 2062 covers both. CR sheet (cold-rolled) is a separate product manufactured by cold-reducing hot-rolled coil to tighter thickness tolerances with a clean, scale-free surface – buyers who need tight dimensional control and smooth finish for powder coating or visible fabrication should specify CR sheet (IS 513) rather than MS sheet. MS chequered plate is a separate product under IS 3502 with a raised anti-slip surface pattern.

Standard 8x4 ft (2440mm x 1220mm) MS sheet weight by thickness: 1.6mm = 37.8 kg, 2.0mm = 47.2 kg, 2.5mm = 59.0 kg, 3.0mm = 70.8 kg, 4.0mm = 94.4 kg, 5.0mm = 118.0 kg, 6.0mm = 141.6 kg, 8.0mm = 188.8 kg, 10.0mm = 236.0 kg, 12.0mm = 283.2 kg. Formula: Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × 7.85. All weights are per standard 2440 × 1220mm sheet at MS density 7850 kg/m³.
MS Sheet HSN Code and GST
Mild steel sheets under IS 2062 in widths of 600mm or more are classified under HSN Code 7208 (flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, hot-rolled, of a width of 600mm or more). MS sheets below 600mm width fall under HSN 7211. MS chequered plates fall under HSN 7208. GST rate is 18% on all MS sheet and MS plate products. All transactions at Aero Enterprises Unit II Dhumal Nagar are processed with full weight documentation and GST-compliant invoicing. GSTIN: 27AGCPK5633K1Z9.
